The 3rd Annual Lowcountry Juneteenth Week Festival (LJW) is returning for another celebration of freedom, culture, and community. Taking place from June 12th to June 18th, this event will feature a range of activities, including live performances, educational events, movie screenings, and more. The highlight of the festival is Friday, June 16th, where the event will pay tribute to 50 years of Hip Hop at The Hanahan Amphitheater. Hip Hop legends Goodie Mob featuring CeeLo Green (pictured) will be performing. In addition to an evening of music and entertainment, attendees have the chance to win a Jeep Wrangler. On Tuesday June 13th, in partnership with Middleton Place Foundation and Beacon Bank, the festival will pay homage to living Lowcountry legends, Lonnie Hamilton III and Judge Arthur McFarland. The history makers will be honored at the 3rd annual LJW Honors Luncheon at the Middleton Place Pavilion. The sounds of gospel music will fill the air on Wednesday, June 14th, as The First Baptist of James Island Church Choir, Ashley Hale, The AshPel Heirs, and more take the stage at the First Baptist Church of James Island for a concert. On Thursday, June 15th, the Lowcountry Juneteenth Week Festival will pay tribute to community leaders who have made an indelible impact. The LJW Honors: Legacy in Black ceremony, to be held at The Wonderer, will honor esteemed individuals such as Reggie Burgess, Laurence LJ Huger, attorney Thad Doughty, Kenya Dunn, and Carlos Dunlap. The festival finale will be held at the Hanahan Amphitheater will transform on Saturday, June 17th. Attendees can indulge in local cuisine, dance to live music performances, and more.
